13th to 17th May is Green Office Week. Here at ALKIMI we believe in doing things ‘Green’. ALKIMI from the beginning in mind has been created to not harm the user and in doing so is kinder to the environment.
We also believe in minimising waste where possible and so:
- ALKIMI’s bottles, trigger, and sleeve are 100% recyclable.
- ALKIMI’s bottles are made from HDPE plastic which can be widely recycled into more bottles and bags. HDPE plastic is the most environmentally stable of all plastics – giving off no harmful fumes into the environment. It doesn’t contain BPA, Allergens, Heavy Metals or Phthalates.
- ALKIMI’s sleeves are made from PET and when placed into recycling will be turned into pallet strapping
- ALKIMI’s triggers contain no metal and are mainly made from PE & PP which can be widely recycled into bottles
Simply separate the bottle, trigger, and sleeve before recycling. Before recycling ensure there is no product remaining in the bottle before de-sleeving. We also recommend checking with specific requirements of your local council before placing in recycling bin.
Beyond the credentials of our products we also believe our office should reflect ALKIMI and so we each have plants on our desk which remove any pollutants from the air by absorbing these gases through their leaves and roots.
Our factory has also achieved a BREEAM rating of ‘VERY GOOD’ due to a number of initiatives, including:
We are able to collect 26,000 litres of rainwater on site and distribute it across our factory, offices and warehouse units.
We have photo voltaic panels which contribute to the electricity we use, with any overcapacity being fed to the National Grid.
We have controls and sensors to ensure that the internal LED lighting yields significant energy savings by gauging staff presence and sunlight levels.
Our passive and natural ventilation system regulates the internal air temperature. It makes use of natural forces to source and circulate air to and from internal spaces. Not only does this provide cleaner air, it also reduces carbon emissions and costs.
We have a paperless system, Docuware which allows us to keep paper usage to an absolute minimum.
